2008 Texas A&M AgriLife Conference

2008 Texas A&M AgriLife Conference
Agriculture is Life! Coming Together to Tell our Story

January 7-11, 2008

Texas A&M University
College Station, Texas

Agriculture is all around us—the food we eat, the clothing we wear, the natural resources around us, and so much more. It impacts every sector of the economy and serves as the roots of peace and prosperity for countries around the world.

We have a responsibility to tell the story of agriculture and the life sciences, and about the life-sustaining and life-changing impacts that we help deliver on a daily basis.

Join us as we celebrate "Agriculture is Life! – Coming Together to Tell Our Story" at the 2008 Texas A&M AgriLife Conference, January 7-11 in College Station. This year marks the unveiling of the new Texas AgriLife Research and Texas AgriLife Extension Service brands, as well a new era of recruiting, marketing and enhanced educational experiences within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Conference promises to be like none other, in terms of a new agenda, new and expanded sessions, and a new story to tell. Register today!

The Texas Transportation Institute's Event Management & Planning (EM&P) will once again manage the online registration system. As in past years, you will receive your nametag and conference program upon arrival in January. We anticipate that the online registration system will continue to save time and enable our conference management services to process registrations more efficiently.

In order to process the registrations and mail confirmation information prior to the holidays, you are encouraged to pre-register by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2007. All registrations received by this date will be confirmed by mail or e-mail. After this date, registrants will incur a $15 late fee and will be required to register on-site beginning Monday, January 7, 2008.

EM&P is available to respond to your registration questions.

The current program of meetings and activities of the 2008 Texas A&M AgriLife Conference can be viewed as follows: Program Agenda.

Student Research Poster Competition

Plans are underway for the 8th Annual Student Research Poster Competition to be held in conjunction with this year's conference. Undergraduate and graduate students whose major professors or research advisors are faculty in a college or agency within Texas A&M AgriLife or an agriculture department/college within a TAMUS academic component are invited to submit an abstract for consideration for the 2008 Competition. Abstracts of research papers dealing with any aspect of agriculture, renewable natural resources, or life sciences are invited.

The deadline for receipt of abstracts by electronic mail (e-mail) and a $20 abstract deposit (by mail or hand-delivered) is Wednesday, December 5th at 12:00 noon. An abstract form and additional information regarding the poster competition can be obtained by contacting Misty Skaggs at m-skaggs@tamu.edu.
