
Car crashes are the #1 killer of youth in America, with an annual toll of more than 6,000 teenage fatalities, 400,000 teen injuries and a national economic cost of over $40 billion. The Teens in the Driver Seat Summit will bring together the critical individuals and elements involved in these tragic events that currently plague our nation. Valuable information and activities will be available for teens, teachers, school administrators, law enforcement, safety practitioners and industry. So come learn more about what's causing these tragedies, as well as the latest in innovative solutions that are helping to combat this epidemic.
Highlighted among the events at the summit will be the rapidly-growing Teens in the Driver Seat (TDS) Program in Texas, which is a peer-to-peer education & outreach program that is now active in over 100 schools in Texas. Conference registration will be available at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) 1604 campus starting at 11:00 am on Friday, October 24 on the 2nd floor of the University Center (UC) [PDF] building. The late registration fees will be in effect during that time. Check, money order and credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover) will be accepted on-site.
Registration is FREE until September 30, 2008.
After September 30, the late registration fee is $20.
NOTE: Registration is required by Sept. 30 in order for students to avoid the late fee.

The single conference registration fee covers admission to all sessions, one continental breakfast, one luncheon and breaks.

The Teens in the Driver Seat Summit will be held in the University Center (UC) building on the UTSA 1604 campus. To drive to the UC building from Highway/Loop 1604, head south on La Cantera Parkway/John Peace Blvd. Then, take a right (west) onto Margaret Tobin Avenue. Then, take a left (south) onto Fred Cooke Avenue. The UC will be on your right (west) after passing the parking garage on your left and past Thomas Devine street on your right. There is a circle drive in front of the UC, near a statue of a couple dancing. Parking is not available here, but the circle drive can be used to drop off guests. Please see the campus maps linked above for more details.
To drive to the parking area, exit Highway/Loop 1604 at Babcock Road and go south. Then, take a left (east) onto UTSA Blvd. Then, take a left onto Edward Ximenes Avenue. The South Garage parking facility (for Friday) will be on your right and Lot 5 (for Saturday) will be on your left. If you are having trouble locating the parking areas, please ask for assistance at the Visitor Booth.
The TDS Summit registration check-in and meeting rooms will be held on the second floor of the UC [PDF] .
Complimentary parking is available during the TDS Summit in specific locations.
Complimentary parking is available in the new South Garage after being validated at the TDS Summit registration desk. Upon arrival at the South Garage, please pull a paper ticket from the machine. Take this ticket with you to the TDS Summit registration desk (in the UC) and exchange it for a complimentary plastic pass. Do not lose the complimentary plastic pass, as another complimentary pass cannot be provided. After returning to the garage at the end of the day, swipe the complimentary plastic pass through the machine to exit. There is no need to stop by the Cashier's Desk in the parking garage. Your complimentary pass has been pre-paid. Staff assistance will be available at the garage exits, if needed.
Complimentary parking is available in Lot 5. Tickets/validations are not required for this lot. View the parking maps for the location of this lot. If you choose to park in the South Garage, parking will not be complimentary. Please be prepared to pay if you want to park in the garage.
If your group is arriving in a 15-passenger van, bus or similar/larger sized vehicle, please park in the back of Lot 5 on both Friday and Saturday. For Friday, a "dashboard pass" is required to place in your vehicle to avoid being ticketed. Please request a dashboard pass at the TDS Summit registration desk. Also – please notify Kathy Montemayor (k-montemayor@tamu.edu) by Tuesday, Oct. 21 if you will require a dashboard pass on Friday.
