The workshops are limited to lead agencies in the regional coordination planning effort and their invited partners. These invited partners may include urban and rural transit providers, regional coordination planners and regional coordination steering committee members.

The workshops will be structured into several themed tracks including building partnerships, coordinated planning, technology applications, marketing for public transportation, and public involvement. In addition to themed tracks, there will be general sessions and opportunities to share best practices in regional transportation coordination.

Sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation, Public Transportation Division with support from University Transportation Center for Mobility (UTCM) at Texas A&M University.

Workshop participants need to select one learning track theme when registering. Each track is limited in size and seating capacity to 45 participants.

Workshop Track 1: Building Partnerships (limit 45 participants)
  • Leadership, mission, goals, objectives and establishing roles and responsibilities;
  • Work plans, collaboration skills; maintaining interest
  • Tools and techniques for building partnerships; consensus building
Workshop Track 2: Coordinated Planning (limit 45 participants)
  • Framework for Action (United We Ride)
  • How to run a Framework workshop
  • Manage regional steering committee meetings
Workshop Track 3: Technology (limit 45 participants)
  • Technology Application in Human Service Coordination
  • How to select and implement technology applications
Workshop Track 4: Marketing (limit 45 participants)
  • Public transportation marketing 101
  • Prepare a marketing plan / marketing campaign
  • Evaluating your campaign
Workshop Track 5: Public Involvement (limit 45 participants)
  • Decision-making; legal framework; public expectations
  • Designing a public involvement plan and selecting techniques
  • Identifying and reaching out to stakeholders

Registration and Workshop Fee

Online registration is no longer available for this workshop. On-site registration will be available at the Omni SouthPark Hotel immediately prior to the workshop.

  • $165.00 - Early registration, through Monday, June 2, 2008
  • $190.00 - Regular registration, Tuesday, June 3, 2008 to Friday, July 11, 2008
  • $215.00 - On site registration

You may pay your registration fee by check, money order, or credit card. Please make checks or money orders (U.S. currency drawn on a U.S. bank) payable to TTI-TPA08. Event Management & Planning (EM&P) also accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards. If paying by check or money order, you may register online and then mail your payment to EM&P. EM&P cannot invoice; therefore, payment of the workshop registration fee must be received prior to admission to the workshop.

On-site Registration

The on-site registration desk will be open during the following times:

  • Tuesday, July 22, 2008
    3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, July 23, 2008
    7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 24, 2008
    7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Registration Deadline

The deadline for early registration is Wednesday, June 2, 2008. Online registration closes at 5:00 p.m., July 11, 2008.

Cancellation

Only cancellations received in writing/e-mail by EM&P by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008 will be refunded, less a $25 handling fee. No refunds will be made after July 14.

Transfers

Registration fees may be transferred to another name in lieu of requesting a refund. The original nametag will be replaced with a nametag for the new participant. To request a transfer prior to July 11, please contact EM&P. Transfer requests will also be accepted onsite.

Hotel Information

The Omni SouthPark Hotel is holding a block of rooms for our use at the nightly rate of $85 for single and $115 for double occupancy. We encourage everyone needing a room to call immediately since we anticipate the rooms will be booked quickly.

Reservations should be made by Wednesday, June 30, 2008. After this date, rooms are subject to availability and may be at a higher rate. To receive this workshop rate, please call the Omni at (512) 448-2222 or (800) 843-6664. Remember to ask for reservations for the "TxDOT - Public Transportation Division" to receive special rates on rooms.

The Omni SouthPark Hotel provides complimentary self-parking.

Airport Shuttle

The Omni SouthPark Hotel provides complimentary airport shuttle to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for their guests. Shuttle service is available from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. For pick up, please call from the courtesy phone in the baggage claim area or call the hotel directly at (512) 448-2222.
