Planning is underway for the 2013 Statewide Traffic Safety Conference in Fort Worth. Register NOW, reserve a room at the conference hotel, and make your plans to attend!
No matter what your area of expertise may be or what specific approaches to solving traffic safety problems you take, we're all working toward a common goal: significant and permanent reductions in the deaths and injuries on our streets and highways. Help us inform, inspire and keep Texas and the entire region up to date on the important issues in traffic safety today and in the future. Despite six years of decline in the annual number of fatalities nationwide, preliminary projections indicate about a 7% INCREASE in 2012. Our work is far from done!
Pre-Conference Workshop
NOTE: The Workshop is now full. However, if you would still like to attend, contact Jordan Bertling at j-bertling@ttimail.tamu.edu to be added to the waiting list.
Monday, June 3, 1:00 - 5:00 pm.
A four-hour workshop, Improving the Safety of Your Highway Workers with the "Roadway Safety +" Work Zone Training Program, will be offered in conjunction with this year's Conference.
The "Roadway Safety +" training program provides an overview of common hazards often found in roadway construction and maintenance work zones, and presents simple prevention measures to improve worker safety. Roadway Safety + was developed through a broad consortium of roadway construction industry partners with funding from both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Work Zone Safety Grant program. The training format is modular-based and is highly flexible to allow agencies and companies to tailor it to their specific needs. Attendees of this free workshop will receive a copy of the training program and guidance on the hazard topics included in the program as well as detailed instructions on how you can use the program to train your employees through classroom instruction, self-paced training, and/or as part of "tailgate talks" prior to starting a work shift. Join us to learn how you can make your agency or company road worker employees safer when they are out doing their jobs.
There is no charge for participation in the Workshop (funded in part through a grant supported by TTI's Center for Transportation Safety), but pre-registration is required and attendance is limited.
Registration and participation of workshop attendees at the Traffic Safety Conference is welcomed and encouraged, but not required.
