The 2007 Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Short Course will be the 81st such meeting in the department's history, and once again will be held on the Texas A&M University campus. Both TxDOT and the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) are proud of this long-standing record of collaboration and cooperation. Over the years, the short course has provided a unique opportunity for these two agencies to exchange important technical information that improves transportation in Texas. This year's meeting will be held October 16-17, 2007. TxDOT planners and their TTI colleagues have developed an excellent program, and we are confident the conference will be of value to all who attend.

TTI's Event Management & Planning (EM&P) is available to answer questions at any time.

Online registration is no longer available. Onsite registration will be available on-site at Reed Arena on Tuesday, October 16, and in MSC Scheduling Office Lobby in the Rudder Tower Complex on Wednesday, October 17.

Registration Fees & Payment Information

Online registration is no longer available. Onsite registration will be available on-site at Reed Arena on Tuesday, October 16, and in MSC Scheduling Office Lobby in the Rudder Tower Complex on Wednesday, October 17. The late fees will be in effect at that time.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) employees, Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) employees, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) employees, and retirees of these organizations, who are not otherwise employed, are not required to pay a registration fee for the 2007 Transportation Short Course. However, we ask that you please register so that a nametag will be available for you upon check-in at the conference.

For Non-TxDOT, Non-TTI, and Non-FHWA participants, the registration fee will be $275 until Friday, September 14, 2007. After September 14, the registration fee will be assessed a $30 late fee.

Payment must be received by Friday, September 14 in order to avoid the late fee. You may pay your registration fee by check, money order, or credit card. TTI EM&P cannot invoice; therefore, payment of the short course registration fee must be received prior to admission to the short course. Please make your check or money order (U.S. currency drawn on a U.S. bank) payable to TTI-TSC07 and mail payment to TTI EM&P. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards are also accepted.

Please note: The District Engineers/Division Directors/Office Directors meeting on Monday, October 15 is also at a NEW location: the Hilton College Station Hotel. This meeting is open to TxDOT employees and retirees by invitation only.

For payment processing purposes, the vendor identification number for TTI EM&P is 37277277275000. The federal identification number is 74-2270624.

On-Site Registration

Registration will also be available on-site at Reed Arena on Tuesday, October 16, and in MSC Scheduling Office Lobby in the Rudder Tower Complex on Wednesday, October 17. The late fees listed above will be in effect at that time. Please make your check or money order (U.S. currency drawn on a U.S. bank) payable to TTI-TSC07. Credit card payments will also be accepted on-site (only Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards will be accepted).

Registration Deadline

The deadline for registration is Friday, September 14, 2007. Late fees will be in effect after this date.

Cancellation

Only cancellations received in writing by TTI-EM&P by 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007 will be refunded, less a $25 handling fee. No refunds will be made if received after September 14.

Hotel Information

To make hotel reservations individuals should call the hotel directly. To receive special conference rates, individuals should refer to the room block name (if indicated). Please confirm your room rate when you make your reservation and confirm this rate upon your arrival at the hotel. Rooms are subject to availability until the noted deadline. After this date, you may not be guaranteed the special conference rates. Due to advance reservations by conference participants, several hotels are already booked. Parking

Parking is available in the West Campus Parking garage, which offers over 3,500 parking spaces. This lot is open to the public and the maximum rate is $6 per day per entry. Should you choose not to park on campus, a shuttle bus from the College Station Hilton will be available. Shuttle buses will be running from both the Hilton and the West Campus Parking Garage.

TxDOT Administration secures parking garage passes for specific TxDOT distribution. If you have questions regarding the parking pass allocation, you may contact Connie Bohuslav, TxDOT, at (512) 305-9527. PLEASE NOTE: if you receive a parking garage pass in the mail and misplace it, another pass will not be provided.

If you do not receive a parking pass from TxDOT, please plan to park at the West Campus Parking garage, the College Station Hilton, or visit http://transport.tamu.edu/parking/visitor.aspx for maps and further information regarding visitor parking on the campus of Texas A&M University.

PLEASE NOTE: Individuals are responsible for the cost of their parking with the exception of the parking passes distributed by TxDOT.

PLEASE NOTE: All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid permit or pass. Vehicles parking illegally are subject to ticket and possible relocation.

Shuttle Service

A shuttle service has been arranged for your convenience from the new West Campus Parking Garage and the Hilton Hotel to and from Reed Arena and the Memorial Student Center/Rudder Tower Complex. The shuttle service will be available at the following times:

Tuesday, October 16, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 17, 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Continuing Education Units

Continuing education units (CEUs) will be awarded to participants who meet the requirements for successful completion of the conference. Participants must attend, evaluate each session, and turn in an overall conference evaluation form to be eligible for CEUs. The process for obtaining CEU credit will be outlined in the conference program and announced in the conference sessions.
