Presentation Summary: Overview of the use of emulsion-treated bases in various projects within the San Anotnio district.
Bio/Expertise Highlights: Over the past year and a half I have been involved with various projects. Particularly I have been involved with specification specific testing and sampling. I have assisted int eh development of an emulsion-treated base mix design procedure. recently I have been involved in the coordination of testing and sampling with The Center for Transportation Infrastructure Systems.

Extensive knowledge of pavement repairs 32 years with the U.S. Navy Seabees (Reserves) most recent position Command Master Chief (senior enlisted military advisor) for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Twenty-Two in Iraq stationed in the Al Anbar Provience. Extensive knowledge of heavy construction in a contingency environments.

Presentation Title: Anti-Graffiti Materials - A Tagger's Nightmare
Presentation Summary: Discussion of a new antigraffiti coating which actually works, following an overview of current practices for dealing with graffiti.
Bio/Expertise Highlights: Tom Schwerdt is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry prior to pursuing graduate studies in Chemistry at Texas A&M. Tom is also a NACE Level III Certified Paint Inspector. His interest in corrosion protection started with an internship at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in White Oak, MD prior to UD. Tom joined The Coatings Laboratory (an independent paint laboratory in Houston) in the mid 90's and quickly became involved in the coatings field, joining the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology (FSCT) and becoming active in coatings testing standards on ASTM committee D01 while performing formulation, failure analysis and general testing on a wide variety of coatings. He has also been active volunteering in Community Radio, including more than four years as the Operations Director of KEOS. After nearly a decade (and one company buyout) at The Coatings Laboratory, he currently works as a paint chemist at the Texas Department of Transportation Materials Lab, focusing on protective coating systems for steel, traffic striping and antigraffiti coatings.
