Presentation Summary: Explain how wind turbine farm construction has resulted in pavement damage and outline steps that may be taken to help deal with this situation.
Bio/Expertise Highlights: I have 24 years experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of highway systems. I currently oversee the maintenance program for the Abilene District of TxDOT, including planning, programming, and implementing projects to upgrade and/or repair farms that have been damaged by wind turbine farm construction traffic.

Bio/Expertise Highlights: I served as Area Engineer for 3 years managing the routine maintenance budget for 3 counties. I was the TP&D director for 5 years managing CAT 1 budget for the Yoakum District. As District Engineer for the past 5 years, I am responsible for total maintenance and construction budgets for 11 counties.

Presentation Title: Research - Variable Asphalt Rates for Chip Seals
Presentation Summary: This presentation describes a method of varying asphalt application rates across the road to diminish occurence or reoccurence of wheel path flushing.
Bio/Expertise Highlights: Paul Krugler is TTI's research supervisor conducting TxDOT Research Project 0-5833, Synthesis Study on Variable Asphalt Shot Rates for Seal Coats. Last summer he visited many of the districts frequently using tranversely varied asphalt rates. He will be presenting a summary of what he found, including recommendations for future use of this procedure. Paul was employed by TxDOT from 1973 to 2003, with the bulk of that time spent in the bituminous section of the Materials and Tests Division. He also served as RTI director for five years just prior to his retirement.

Bio/Expertise Highlights: Toribio Garza is Deputy Director Maintenance Division with 23 years experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of highway facilities. Toribio has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, University of Texas in Austin, 1986 and is married with 3 children.
