Presentation Title: Two Test Methods, One Machine- The New O-Pod (Otherwise Known as the Overlay Tester)
Presentation Summary: This presentation will discuss the objectives of Research Study 5457,
Bio/Expertise Highlights: I served as the Project Director on previously complete TxDOT Research Study 4061, "A Comparison of Hot-Poured Rubber Asphalt Crack Sealants to Emulsified Crack Sealants". I also served on the Consortium Task Force for a 5 year National Pooled Fund Study TPF-5(045), "Use of Performance Based Guidelines for Selection of Hot Poured Asphalt Crack Sealants". I also served as Project Director on TxDOT Research Study 5457, "Use of the Overlay Tester for Adhesion Testing of Crack Sealants", completed about March 2008. As Director of Maintenance for the TxDOT San Antonio District since 1993, I have provided oversight in the proper management of various maintenance contracts, including crack seal contracts.

Presentation Title: Hot In-Place Recycling of Asphaltic Pavements
Presentation Summary: To provide an overview of the hot in place recycling process, including current design and construction practices, and comparisons to alternatives such as mill and fill type operations.
Bio/Expertise Highlights: I have worked as a consultant for a hot in-place recycling contractor, sampling roadways, analyzing cores and coordinating mix designs. I also reviewed other recycling contractors operations and construction methods. As a materials engineer with TxDOT, I assisted in the development of the special specification to be used on all future HIR projects.

Bio/Expertise Highlights: I have worked with hot mix asphalt materials for approximately 20 years. I have considerable expertise in designing and contructing flexible pavements. I have studied and researched RAP fractionation for the past 5 years.
