2013 Transportation Short Course

October 15-16, 2013

Texas A&M University
College Station, Texas

The 2013 Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Short Course will be the 87th such meeting in the department's history. Both TxDOT and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) are proud of this long-standing record of collaboration and cooperation. Over the years, the short course has provided a unique opportunity for these two agencies to exchange important technical information that improves transportation in Texas. This year's meeting will be held October 15-16, 2013. TxDOT planners and their TTI colleagues are developing an excellent program, and we are confident the conference will be of value to all who attend.

TTI's Event Management & Planning (EM&P) is available to answer questions at any time.

We look forward to seeing you in October!

Ethics

The Ethics Session last year was so popular and we received so many positive comments in the online survey encouraging its continuance that we decided to host TWO back-to-back sessions this year! The first session is for TxDOT employees and the second session is open to everyone. This will help to alleviate overcrowding and help to manage the ingress/egress at the doors. Both sessions will be identical in format and content. We are encouraging TxDOT employees to attend the first session but if you cannot make it to the first session, you are welcome to attend the second one. The second session is open to everyone who is registered for the Transportation Short Course. Please be punctual so the sessions and can start and end on time.

Professional Development Hours

Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be awarded to participants who meet the requirements for successful completion of the conference. According to the Texas Board of Professional Engineers' Continuing Education Program (CEP) webpage, the board wants the reporting process to be as simple as possible. There are only two things that a license holder needs to do:

  1. Certify on the renewal statement that you have completed the CEP requirement and return it with your renewal payment. This is the main document that the board reviews and keeps as a record of completing the CEP requirement.

  2. Keep some sort of paper proof of your activity. This can include a certificate of completion or attendance in a course or seminar, a grade report, a flyer or agenda from a presentation or meeting, or any other document that shows the date, location, duration, and type of activity you wish to claim.

Parking/Bus Service

We have been assigned ample parking on the Texas A&M University campus (see the yellow sections of the Parking/Bus map) and will be running bus service from the parking area to the MSC. Parking lot monitors will be in place to be sure all participants get on board the appropriate busses.

Please visit the Texas A&M Transportation Services website to purchase a conference parking permit and be sure to place it on your dashboard.

Dining Options

With the reopening of the MSC, there are ample dining options on the Texas A&M campus.
