Dinners

Texas Tailgate Party

Howdy and Welcome to Texas!! Join us Monday evening for a Texas tailgate party as we dine on Texas barbeque, listen to some home-grown Texas music, and enjoy the evening in one of College Station's beautiful parks – Veteran's Memorial Park. The City of College Station is eager to welcome you to Texas, so put on your boots and hats, shine up that belt buckle and come join the fun.

Tour & Tastes of Downtown Bryan

Tuesday evening, take a tour of the Historic Downtown Bryan area and sample various dishes from the area's restaurants. In 1992, Downtown Bryan became a Texas Main Street City receiving design and technical assistance from the Texas Historical Commission. View all of the recent restorations including the rebuilding of the original LaSalle Hotel, Palace Theater and the oldest existing Carnegie Library in Texas. The district is a great place to go antiquing, shop for unique items, tour the historic homes or dine at eclectic restaurants.

Dinners on the Towns

Have a favorite restaurant in town? Seen someplace you'd like to go for dinner? Sign up to have dinner on Wednesday at some of Bryan/College Station's most popular restaurants. We have selected restaurants that are unique to Bryan/College Station and Texas for you to try. Menus for each restaurant will be posted at the conference along with a sign-up sheet. Conference committee members will accompany groups, and transportation will be provided to the designated restaurants.

The tours are given by current students through the Appelt Aggieland Visitor Center.

Community Emergency Operations Center

Visit the Community Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) for a tour and presentation on the roles and responsibilities of an Emergency Operations Center. Participants will explore the collaborative effort among the City of College Station, City of Bryan, Brazos County and Texas A&M University to build the Community Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) and discover what the future holds for the Brazos Valley for emergency response and recovery.

George Bush Presidential Library and Museum Tour

The George Bush Library exhibits reveal the unique influences and challenges, which shaped George Bush's life and presidency. On a larger scale, The George Bush Library encompasses much of the nation's history since 1941. The museum underwent a major renovation in 2007 to the main exhibit on the life of George Bush. With the renovation, the museum video content increased 10-fold and the latest touch screen and interactive technology was implemented. The Bush Museum also presents the only Oval Office exhibit that allows visitors to sit in the "seat of power" and have their photo taken behind the President's desk. Experience this special Museum through artifacts, film, photographs, documents, music, sound effects and interactive video and computerization. The overall theme of The George Bush Library is the nobility of public service as exemplified by the lives of George and Barbara Bush.
