TransLink® Gilchrist Laboratory

The TransLink® Gilchrist Laboratory opened in 1999 with the distinction of being the only facility of its type in the nation, a fact that remains true to this day. Nowhere else do ITS researchers have the opportunity to perform research in an environment designed to mimic a transportation management center (TMC). TransLink® was developed to accommodate and encourage the multimodal integration of intelligent transportation system (ITS) infrastructure and solutions.

Set in approximately 3,000 square feet of space in TTI's Gibb Gilchrist Building at the Texas A&M University Research Park, the lab supports TTI's ongoing research program into ITS and operations. With an installed base of roadside equipment, computers, and communications infrastructure, the laboratory is able to support the design, development, testing, implementation, and long-term operations needs of virtually any project. The Gilchrist laboratory has dedicated space to address the functions of the Roadside Equipment Laboratory, as bench testing and field deployments continue to support the wide range of ITS research undertaken by TransLink® researchers.
