Traffic Operations
The Institute's focus on cutting-edge technologies has made it a leader in traffic operations and design research. TTI has established a world-class set of tools and resources for conducting advanced research in signs, markings, signals, work zones, and highway design. Researchers regularly utilize the TransLink Gilchrist Laboratory to perform real time testing of signal control technologies. The Visibility and Retroreflectiveity Lab at Riverside Campus has been the site where numerous innovative signs and markings technologies have been tested, and quite often resulting in implementation at TxDOT.
