Surveys conducted by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute have indicated that judges are concerned with three main topics related to ignition interlock devices: (1) the cost (2) monitoring, and (3) proximity to ignition interlock service centers. This project addressed each of these concerns over a 3-year period – addressing one concern each year. The findings will be presented to judicial associations in an effort to educate judges and alleviate their concerns. Additionally, the project also looks at existing challenges to ignition interlock devices, and strategies that could be employed to resolve those challenges.
