The latest version of the TRENDS model is now available online. A few key features include: Advanced or Basic mode, linked tabs for quicker page navigation, “sliders” instead of text boxes to reduce the risk of input error, real-time graph to track your progress updates after each variable change, easier access to output reports, and a new economic impact component to calculate the impact of revenue dedicated to a selected region. Researchers to Present TRENDS Model at Wisconsin Forum

TTI Economics and Finance Researchers Brianne Glover and Nick Norboge were selected to present the T.R.E.N.D.S. Model to a 2012 Mid-Continent Transportation Forum in Madison, WI. Dr. Glover and Mr. Norboge will present T.R.E.N.D.S. on September 6th and discuss its potential for improving decision-making for other states. (Read more).

Finance and Economics Researchers Release UTCM Report

In a two-year long effort that culminated in June 2012, senior Texas A&M Transportation Institute research scientist Dr. David Ellis examined best practices for determining the economic impacts associated with transportation improvements. With the help of TTI Finance and Economics researchers Dr. Brianne Glover, and Nick Norboge, Dr. Ellis examined methodologies used in four U.S. states and developed a list of most applicable practices. New TRENDS in projecting transportation funding

Detailed transportation funding information for Texas will soon be available to anyone with Internet access — thanks to an interactive website (called TRENDS) being co-designed by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). It’s the first time a state’s transportation funding projection model will be available to the public. TRENDS, by the way, stands for Transportation Revenue, Estimator and Needs Determination System.
