Description
Based in Austin, TTI’s Mobility Management Program conducts independent and collaborative research for local, state and federal sponsors with a focus on strategies that promote the efficient use of transportation systems:
- physical infrastructure such as roadways, bicycle facilities, and pedestrian facilities,
- financial strategies such as alternative funding methods, and
- social considerations, including community involvement and customer needs
Researchers in the program perform applied research, facilitate technology transfer, and serve as a transportation resource in Central Texas on a wide range of related topics:
- HOT and Managed Lanes
- Congestion pricing
- Mileage-based user fees
- Public attitude assessment
- Public opinion research and support
- Bicycle and pedestrian safety and access
- Transportation demand management
- Usage-based car insurance
- Technology-enhanced data collection methods
Through its research, the program explores the next generation of customer and community-oriented transportation strategies, stressing a reliance on technology applications, integration of infrastructure supply and demand, and sustainable solutions.
