Description
Researchers in the System Monitoring Program employ state-of-the-art sensors to monitor vehicle characteristics, with an emphasis on commercial vehicles. Recent studies have investigated long-term research into vehicle detection technologies, developing and implementing a traffic monitoring equipment evaluation facility, truck accommodation design guidance, strategies for separating trucks from passenger vehicle traffic, innovative methods to reduce stops to trucks, truck accident countermeasures on urban freeways, effects of warning devices on truck speeds, the impacts of commodity movements in Texas, and the oversize/overweight permit policy in Texas.
