Environmental Management

Environmental Management is nationally recognized for its state-of-the-art work in the application of visualization and simulation to transportation design. Additionally the program has received international attention for its landmark research in storm water quality, erosion control materials and technology.

Expertise

Unique in the field, the Environmental Management Program houses the only group of Landscape Architects, Planners, and research professionals dedicated to improving the design and quality of transportation systems.

The Environmental Management Program currently operates the TTI/TxDOT Hydraulics, Sedimentation, and Erosion Control Lab (HSECL), a full-scale, outdoor evaluation facility for the performance testing of selected erosion control materials. Learn more about testing services at this facility.

Cooperative Relationships/Sponsors

The Environmental Management Program partners with a diverse group of sponsors, including the following:

  • the South Dakota Department of Transportation,
  • Arizona Department of Transportation,
  • TxDOT's Bryan District,
  • the Environmental Protection Agency,
  • the Texas Center for Environmental Quality, and
  • the Texas General Land Office.
