Signal Operations Program

Description

The Signal Operations program conducts research in the areas of traffic signal operations, intersection design, urban street operations and safety. Products of the program's research have been implemented through the installation of innovative new control strategies, changes in TxDOT design and operations guideline documents, and changes or additions to the Highway Capacity Manual published by the Transportation Research Board.

Expertise

Researchers in the Signal Operations program have experience in the following areas:

  • Traffic signal control,
  • Highway design,
  • Surveying,
  • Systems engineering,
  • Traffic operations,
  • Interchange ramps, and,
  • Saturation flow.
