Center on Tolling Research
Description
The Center on Tolling Research serves as a focal point for research collaboration on issues associated with turnpikes, toll facilities, and roadway pricing. The Center also serves as a clearinghouse of information on tolling topics and projects.
Mission
The mission of the Center on Tolling Research is to create a collaborative environment for research and implementation of tolling solutions to enhance mobility, safety, and financing of the overall transportation system.
Expertise
Researchers associated with the Center on Tolling Research have expertise in the following areas:
- Toll facility planning and policy,
- Public outreach,
- Traffic and revenue projections,
- Highway pricing,
- Geometric design,
- Toll road signing,
- Technology implementation,
- Enforcement, and
- Evaluation.
Research Initiatives
Researchers are currently working on the following initiatives:
- Toll pricing and managed lane policy issues,
- Toll interchange geometric design and operation,
- Feasibility and operation of single lane toll roads in rural areas,
- I-30 Value Pricing Test Bed,
- Tolling System Design for I-30 Managed Lane, and
- Support to TxDOT CDA process.
