Patricia Turner is an Associate Research Scientist with TTI's Center for Transportation Safety. Ms. Turner has over 14 years experience in transportation research and has managed numerous highway safety-related projects including studies related to bicycle and pedestrian issues, motorcycle safety, alcohol, fatal crashes, and crash record systems. She recently completed a study looking at factors affecting motorcycle helmet use in Texas, which included a 5-year motorcycle crash trend analysis and motorcycle rider survey to determine reasons for helmet and non-helmet use. Ms. Turner also conducted an analysis of recreational boating crashes in Texas. She is currently assisting TxDOT with the development of a statewide comprehensive highway safety plan and conducting research on existing and emerging in-vehicle entertainment technologies and their potential impacts on driving tasks.
Prior to joining TTI, Ms. Turner was a Senior Research Associate and Manager of the Safety Research Program at the Center for Urban Transportation at the University of South Florida. She earned a MPA, in Public Budgeting and Finance, from the University of South Florida and a BS, in Business Administration, from the University of Maryland.
