Short Biography

Mr. Ranft received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He joined the Institute in 1983 and worked in the System Implementation and Evaluation Program in Houston. He transferred to the System Operation Management Program in Arlington in 1988. Mr. Ranft is currently an Assistant Research Specialist in the TTI-Arlington office. Mr. Ranft's experience includes an extensive background in High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane and Managed Lane conceptual design, implementation, evaluation, and analysis as well as extensive knowledge pertaining to all types of traffic survey and data collection procedures. He also has experience in freeway operations studies, incident management studies, origin/destination studies, ITS planning, and vehicle crash analysis. He is knowledgeable in SAS, Highway Capacity Manual software, CORSIM, VISSIM, AutoCAD, Microstation, and various spreadsheet, word processing, and data management software.
