Short Biography
Dr. Ming-Han Li came to the United States in 1993 after his college education in agricultural engineering at the National Taiwan University and a 2-year military service as second lieutenant in engineering. During his student years from 1993 to 2002 in the United States, Dr. Li earned a Master of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Landscape Architecture degree and a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University. Dr. Li is a member of Sigma Lamda Alpha and Tau Sigma Delta Honor Societies.Dr. Li joined as an assistant professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at Texas A&M University in 2003. Throughout the years, he has taught junior, senior and graduate landscape design and construction studios, as well as a graduate seminar in stormwater management. Dr. Li received the Montague Teaching Award from the Center for Teaching Excellence in 2006 and the Graduate Faculty Teaching Award from the College of Architecture in 2007.
Prior to becoming faculty, Dr. Li was an environmental researcher with Texas A&M Transportation Institute. His research experience and background covers stormwater management, soil bioengineering, soil erosion and roadside vegetation management. Since coming to Texas A&M University, Dr. Li has been involved in National Cooperative Highway Research Program and Texas Department of Transportation research projects, including alternatives to silt fence, applicability of streambank soil bioengineering, highway stormwater quality study, bioretention study and etc. Through his research and practice experiences, Dr. Li has become a licensed Professional Engineer and a registered Landscape Architect in the state of Texas.
Dr. Li's multi-disciplinary background enables him to publish research articles in landscape, planning and engineering journals, including Landscape and Urban Planning, Journal of Environmental Engineering, Water Environment Research, Geosynthetics International, Transportation Research Record, and etc. He is the Book Review Editor of the journal Landscape and Urban Planning.
