Short Biography

Dock Burke, a Research Economist at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, has served as study supervisor or co-supervisor for more than fifty transportation research projects during his career at TTI. He has authored or co-authored more than eighty-five technical reports, papers, and articles and delivered approximately forty technical discussions and presentations on transportation topics. His research includes a variety of policy and technical topics involving financial policy of transportation agencies, international transportation between Texas and Mexico, truck sizes and weights issues, freight commodity movements (including commodity flows and intermodal movements), and economic impact and development aspects of transportation expenditures.

Dock Burke pursued his graduate studies in economics at Tulane University after acquiring a bachelors degree in economics from Texas A&M in 1962. He taught economics at Tulane and the University of Kentucky prior to coming to TTI as an Assistant Research Economist in 1969. Now a Research Economist, Dock Burke also serves as the Director of the Southwest Region University Transportation Center, a consortium of universities headquartered at TTI, for the purpose of enhancing transportation education, research, and technology transfer. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the Southern Economic Association, and The Western Economic Association.
