Short Biography

Since joining the Texas A&M Transportation Institute in 1995, Mr. Vickich has worked extensively on the research and implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies and architectures. Most of Mr. Vickich's work is focused on the ITS initiatives of Houston TranStar, the Greater Houston Transportation and Emergency Management Center, and the Texas Department of Transportation. Most recently, Mr. Vickich has worked on ITS implementation efforts for the Maricopa Association of Governments and the Arizona Department of Transportation.

While at TTI, Mr. Vickich's work has involved him in the design and implementation of the software responsible for running many of Houston TranStar's Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) and Advanced Transportation Management Systems (ATMS). Currently, Mr. Vickich works closely with personnel at TranStar to manage the development and operations of many ITS data interfaces including the Houston TranStar Traveler Information web site which has been formally recognized by the Federal Highway Administrator and other entities for being one of the best such web sites in the nation. He is continually assisting TranStar with the design of ITS market packages, software and networking integration initiatives, and general application development. In addition, he also oversees the development and operations of the Houston TranStar sensor network which includes the Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) system, radar system network, and their associated applications.
