Short Biography
Ms. Anderson Bomar has almost 30 years of experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, public involvement, education and training, meeting facilitation, traffic analysis, data analysis and methodology development, management and administration of transportation and traffic engineering projects, master transportation plans and studies, transit systems planning parking studies and design analyses, freight studies, and general research. Ms. Bomar has served as the Principal-In-Charge and Project Manager for more than 200 traffic impact and transportation master plan studies, including major data collection and analysis efforts. She has also led an effort in transportation modeling using microcomputer technology (TranPlan, TModel2, QRS-II, TransCad) and is author of a text on the use of TRANPLAN. Ms. Bomar is well versed with most of the capacity analysis software packages and has an extensive background in statistical analysis. Using her vast experience in freight studies, Ms. Bomar authored the Goods Movement Studies chapter of the Manual of Transportation Engineering Studies, Institute of Transportation Engineers (1994). In addition to her technical background, Ms. Bomar has extensive experience in facilitating public meetings, hearings, probe groups, and charettes.Ms. Anderson Bomar is an International Past President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and is past Chairman of the Institute's Technical Council Design Department, Policy Committee, and Transportation Planners Council. She has been the Chair of the Goods Movement Council and author of the Urban Travel Characteristics chapter of the Transportation Planners Handbook. She was a Director of the New Jersey Motor Truck Association, as well as the American Trucking Associations' Scholar-In-Residence. She has also been a special member of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission's Urban Goods Movement Advisory Committee. Ms. Anderson Bomar chaired the Olympic Transportation Task Force Support Group on Goods Movement for the 1996 Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Other affiliations include the Transportation Research Board, Women's Transportation Seminar, Council for Quality Growth and the Society of Women Engineers.
Ms. Anderson Bomar is listed in numerous Who's Who publications, including "Professional and Executive Women", in the South and Southwest", "in the East", and "Among Community Leaders". She is a member of the Gwinnett County Board of the United Way, American Red Cross, an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of the Leadership Gwinnett program. Ms. Anderson Bomar received the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce Athena Award. This is given to the Outstanding Businesswoman who has made a significant contribution in business, community service and her profession. She has also received the Marble Hensley Individual Activity Award from District 5 of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. She has been a finalist for the Gwinnett County Small Business Person of the Year Award in 1995 and 1997. In 2002, she received the GAGE Parent of the Year Award.
