Ms. Stevens holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The Texas A&M University and a Master of Engineering degree and a Bachelor of Engineering degree, both in Civil Engineering, from The Thapar University (Patiala, India).

Ms. Stevens' primary areas of interest include computerized traffic simulation and modeling, traffic and transit operations, highway safety, ITS architecture, ITS technology applications, benefit-cost studies for highway improvements, travel demand forecasts for corridor level highway projects, and transportation planning. Her work activities include prioritizing highway improvement projects, mapping HGAC regional ITS architecture to Turbo database, quantifying motorists user costs for work zones, crash data analysis, developing ITS system requirements for prototype arterial traveler information system, developing Google earth graphics to identify work zones associated with a construction schedule.

Ms. Stevens worked as a structural design engineer and a lecturer in India for 9 years prior to coming to US. While working in India, she taught many structural analysis and design courses including Analysis and Design of Steel Bridges, Dynamic Analysis of Structures, and Mechanics of Materials. She recently delivered an ITE approved two week training course on Geometric Design of Highways and Traffic Engineering to a group of practicing engineers in Kosovo.

Ms. Stevens is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas (100345) and a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. She is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and Texas Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. Ms. Stevens has attended numerous ITS training courses and seminars including the FHWA ITS Architecture training course and the FHWA course on Improving Highway Safety with ITS.
