Short Biography

Mr. Liang Ding is an Assistant Research Engineer at Texas Transportation A&M Institute (TTI). He received his Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from Utah State University in 2005. Prior to joining TTI, he worked for the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities as a Research Fellow. In that position, Mr. Ding worked with Caltrans and MnDOT Engineers by providing on-call technical support on traffic simulation and planning models.

Mr. Ding has been involved in research projects funded by the Texas Department of Transportation and other agencies. He also actively works in the Texas Department of Transportation Interagency Contract with the southern Texas Districts. Mr. Ding's main fields are transportation operation, safety, planning and the alternatives evaluation with the state-of-art analysis software. Mr. Ding is an expert in traffic simulation models, and has been involved in several complex simulation modeling research efforts. He has significant background and experience with simulation tools such as CORSIM, VISSIM, PARAMICS and SimTraffic. He also extensively applies the standard traffic operations analysis tools, including Synchro, and the Highway Capacity Software, into his research. In addition to the regular application of traffic simulation tools, Mr. Ding also extended the scope of the simulation into more related applications such as safety evacuation.
