Short Biography

Dr. Andrew J. Wimsatt joined the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) in September, 2006, after working at the Texas of Department of Transportation (Texas DOT) for 18 years, most recently as the Fort Worth District Pavement Engineer and manager of the District's Pavement Management and Bridge Inspection Section from February, 1996 to August, 2006. He earned B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987, 1988, and 1998, respectively. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas.

As head of the Materials & Pavements Division of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), Dr. Wimsatt oversees a $9 million annual research program that covers 5 areas of study: flexible pavements, rigid pavements, pavement management, materials chemistry, and recyclable materials. He manages a staff of 27 research engineers and scientists, 6 research technicians, 5 clerical, 40 graduate assistants, and several undergraduate students.
