Short Biography

Irene Rodriguez, is a nationally recognized expert in child passenger safety and injury prevention programs. She is actively involved with local, state and national initiatives to reduce childhood injuries and fatalities through educational programs and community outreach. Her involvement in the development and implementation of bilingual injury prevention programs has provided opportunity to work with Latino communities and other underserved populations in the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico. She has extensive experience in program planning, management and evaluation as well as in training, technical assistance and compliance of federal and state requirements. Prior to joining the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Irene was the Director of the Safety Center at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.
