Short Biography
Nick serves as the Agency's information security officer and is responsible for administering the Agency's information security program. In this capacity, he develops and recommends policies, and establishes procedures and practices, necessary to ensure the security of information resources assets against unauthorized or accidental modification, destruction, or disclosure. He also documents and maintains an up-to-date information security program, monitors the effectiveness of defined controls for mission critical information, verifies that appropriate security controls are in place for all major information resources projects, and reports to the agency director on the status and effectiveness of information resources security controls.Nick relocated to College Station in July 2009 from San Antonio, Texas, continuing his service in public education that began with the Northside Independent School District in 1999. Most recently at Northside ISD, Nick served as the police department's communications systems manager, responsible for administering the District's multi-site public safety radio communications system, the Agency's computer network, geographic information systems (GIS), and computer assisted dispatching and records management system. Nick also produced all Agency activity and crime reports and analyses, and ensured Agency compliance with the National Incident Management System.
Nick is also a member of the United States Air Force Reserve at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio since 2003, where he is the non-commissioned officer in charge of combat arms and a security forces supervisor. In these positions, Nick oversees the ground weapons training program, performs military law enforcement duties, and participates in air base ground defense. His service in the Air Force includes one tour in Iraq and a mobilization during Hurricane Katrina.
