Short Biography

Mr. Norboge is an Assistant Transportation Researcher at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, where he has conducted a wide variety of transportation financial and operations research since 2010. His major areas of emphasis have been in transportation financial modeling, funding, economic analysis, and public policy. Other emphasis areas include benefit-cost analysis and environmental sustainability policy.

In the past two years, Nicolas has:

  • Collaborated with over five subject matter experts to write a 20-page "layperson's" brief on how transportation is funded in Texas

  • Wrote, as part of a team, a study to examine the economic development potential of a proposed new freight shuttle system

  • Wrote the User's Guide for the Transportation Revenue Estimation and Needs Determination System (TRENDS) Model developed by TTI

  • Developed 20-page transportation funding analysis for Blue Ribbon Transportation Committee quantifying recent state initiatives for funding transportation infrastructure

  • Prepared 70-page policy recommendation on federal climate change legislation for senior TxDOT officials

    • Nicolas is active in several professional organizations. He currently is a member of the Austin Chapter to the Young Professionals in Transportation and is a Class of 2011 Fellow to the prestigious Eno Transportation Foundation Leadership Development Conference. Over the next year, Nicolas will be featured on projects that will require compiling toll road financial data, writing a federal-level policy paper on ways to incorporate economic benefits into the federal decision-making process. He will also contribute to creating a new strategy for funding port and waterway infrastructure.
