Short Biography

Mr. Griffin joined the Austin office of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute in June, 2012 following over a decade of experience in public and private sector planning, geographic information systems, and coordination of transportation research projects. Currently, he is leading development of travel demand strategies for the Texas legislature, and developing project prioritization methods for bicycle and pedestrian transportation.

Prior to working with TTI, Mr. Griffin was a Senior Planner with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, where he led the public participation and active transportation programs, including direction of research projects in bicycle and pedestrian monitoring and forecasting. He was also a planner for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department developing master plans for state park and historic sites, and worked in the private sector as a site planner and geographic information systems analyst and project manager.

Mr. Griffin is also an adjunct lecturer at Texas State University-San Marcos, where he has taught a transportation course in the Department of Geography since 2010. His graduate research at Texas State University developed an online visual landscape evaluation method for trail user preferences.
