Traffic Management Support for the Dallas District
Project Description
As the Dallas urbanized area continues to grow, innovative approaches are required to accommodate transportation needs while reducing air quality impacts. Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) has performed a variety of research and technology transfer for the Dallas District of the Texas Department of Transportation since 1983. This project has included tasks such as:
- evaluation of freeway monitoring hardware,
- providing traffic management team support,
- evaluating heavy truck crash experience and proposing mitigation measures,
- evaluating rural crash experience,
- assisting with issues related to deployment of ITS in the Dallas area,
- developing an interactive freeway management web site (www.dfwtraffic.info), and
- providing technical support for the development of prototype freeway management software.
