Technology Transfer and Technical Support Services for the Tyler District

Project Description

The study of this mid-size urban/rural area toll project on Loop 49 involves the development of a conceptual tolling plan, the collection of baseline public perception data, the development of a public outreach plan, and the investigation of financing options. The development of Loop 49 as a potential toll facility has been documented as a case study to provide best practices in pursuing projects of a similar nature. To date, six regional workshops discussing the lessons learned from this research have been conducted for Texas Department of Transportation staff and the staff of the local metropolitan planning organizations, regional mobility authorities, and city and county governments. Ongoing support to the Tyler District for data collection and documentation related to Loop 49 continues in 2006.
