Texas Mobility Plans

Project Description

The Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) will provide congestion index calculations, roadway rehabilitation cost methodologies, and technical assistance to the 25 metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) for the 2006 Texas Metropolitan Mobility Plan (TMMP) and Texas Urban Mobility Plan (TUMP) efforts. The mobility plans are financial planning documents that will focus on the mobility needs of each urban area to address the funding shortfalls that exist between total resources available to the regions through traditional funding sources, and the amount needed to reduce congestion to an acceptable level. The TMMP, a financial planning document between the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the MPOs in the eight largest urban areas in the state, will be updated during fiscal year 2006. A final report will be submitted to the TxDOT Commission, and the TUMP will be developed as new performance measures for the 17 remaining MPO areas in Texas.
