Houston ITS Project Evaluations

Project Description

The Houston Priority Corridor Program is an Intelligent Transportation System demonstration project whose intent is to develop, implement, and evaluate cutting-edge technology in the transportation environment. The Priority Corridor Program requires that evaluations be conducted on all projects. Evaluations not only include the operational impacts of ITS projects, but the technological and multi-agency and jurisdictional issues surrounding ITS implementation projects. Areas covered in the Priority Corridor Program have included ITS program planning, Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) planning and implementation, freeway connector over-speed warning systems, railroad grade crossing monitoring systems, environmental monitoring systems, changeable lane assignment systems, advanced traveler information systems, priority lane pricing, enhanced incident management and predictive traffic information and management systems.
