Pilot Implementation of a New Binder Aging Simulation Equipment

Project Description

A new device for binder aging simulation was developed in Project 0-1742 and round-robin-tested in Phase I of this project. The new binder aging device allows an easy way to age polymer-modified binders, eliminating the problems using the rolling thin-film oven (RTFO). The apparatus and procedure are called the stirred air-flow test (SAFT). Phase II addressed design improvements and training for statewide implementation.
