El Paso Technical Assistance with Public Outreach

Project Description

The Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) is assisting the Texas Department of Transportation's El Paso District with a comprehensive outreach and education project. When applied elsewhere, such as in Tyler, these activities have helped build a coalition of support and minimized misperceptions on the part of community members. TTI is assisting the district with assessing key issues for public support and conducting public/stakeholder outreach to analyze the level of public and stakeholder support. The agency is also preparing a public education plan for the district, including assistance in communicating tolls and managed lane concepts in a manner that minimizes opportunities for misperceptions.
