College Station Integration Project
Project Description
The College Station Integration Project applied intelligent transportation system (ITS) concepts to create a real-world testbed for the delivery of information to emergency service providers. The relevant information in the testbed was the presence, location, speed, and arrival time prediction of trains at critical crossings along a 7-mile corridor. Providing ground truth information with video, the system alerts emergency responders to train events in the corridor, which can then be judged for their impact on response time and the best route. The continuing operation of the testbed is an on-going collaboration of the Texas Transportation Institute and the City of College Station.
