System Assessment and Validation of Emergency Responders (SAVER)
Project Description
Based on the work conducted for the TEERE project, the Department of Homeland Security's Office of State and Local Government Coordination and Preparedness, later the Office of Grants and Training (OGT), formally established the System Assessment and Evaluation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) Program in 2004. The SAVER Program provides evaluative information to police, fire, and EMS personnel about equipment that they use every day to assist them with making procurement decisions. Texas A&M Engineering is a technical agent to DHS-OGT for SAVER, and conducts tests at member agency facilities in College Station, Texas as well as working with other SAVER technical agents. Texas Transportation Institute supports the Texas Engineering Experiment Station and the Texas Engineering Extension Service on the project by providing test design, analysis, and documentation.
