Alternative Funding Solutions for ITS Deployment

Project Description

The objective of this research project was to examine a variety of approaches and alternatives for acquiring future funding for ITS deployment within the state of Texas. This objective was accomplished through the following activities:

  1. identifying stakeholders and possible beneficiaries of ITS technologies (as potential funding sources);
  2. identifying alternative funding solutions and programs;
  3. detecting potential barriers to implementing new funding alternatives; and
  4. developing strategies for overcoming potential barriers and implementing promising alternatives.

The product of this research effort is a guidebook outlining promising programs and approaches for obtaining future funds for deploying ITS technologies in the State of Texas.
