Abstract:

The major urban areas in Texas have recently experienced a period of unprecedented growth. Along with that growth came significant increases in traffic congestion with corresponding declines in urban mobility. Maintaining mobility is essential if continued economic growth is to be realized. This study uses available data to assess the seriousness of congestion in the major urban areas and to estimate the relative levels of mobility that exist in major Texas cities.
