Abstract:

This report presents a catalog of available speed control methods for work zones. Information contained in the report comes from three sources: a literature review, a telephone survey of SDHPT District personnel, and field studies of radar transmitters at work zones. The objective of the catalog is to present a synthesis of research concerning the effectiveness of each speed control method, document the perceived effectiveness and usage within the state of Texas, and identify any major site-specific factors which have been shown to influence the effectiveness of one or more methods.
