Abstract:

A computer program has been developed in this study to perform the calculations for the design of continuous prestressed concrete bridge girders. The continuous girder is constructed from simple span precast concrete I-shaped beams made continuous by supplementary reinforcing in the deck and the ends of the precast beams. Specification for the designs produced are those currently accepted by the Texas Highway Department. This volume of the report describes the analysis techniques used in the determination of design moments and shears and the design criteria and methods of computation used in completing a design.
