Abstract:
This implementation product suggests revised text for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) manual Procedures for Establishing Speed Zones, Chapter 5: "Application of Advisory Speeds." It includes a discussion of curves and turns, intersections, narrow and one-lane bridges, descending grades of 6 percent or greater, dips, bumps, and exit ramps. For curves and turns, the product discusses the following methods to determine the curve advisory speed: direct method, global positioning system (GPS) method, and design method.
