Abstract:

This report documents the results from the Workshop on Intelligent Transportation Systems and Travel Demand Management, which was held in Houston, Texas on September 20 and 21, 1995. The Workshop was sponsored by the Texas A&M Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Research Center of Excellence and the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), a part of The Texas A&M University System.|The Workshop brought together key representatives from the TDM and ITS communities. The purpose of the two-day Workshop was to develop a strategic agenda for the deployment of ITS to enhance TDM. To accomplish this objective, participants discussed barriers limiting the use of TDM, potential applications of ITS technologies to overcome these concerns, and possible demonstration projects, operational tests, and research activities.|The Workshop results are summarized in these proceedings. The document contains the comments from the opening and closing sessions, as well as the discussions in the working group sessions and the resource paper on ITS and TDM provided to participants.
