1. LEAVE FOR 30 CALENDAR DAYS OR LESS

TTI division heads are authorized to approve leaves of absence without pay for employees in their respective divisions for a period of time not to exceed 30 calendar days. Employees must have exhausted all other leave before a leave of absence without pay may be approved.

2. LEAVE FOR PERIODS OF MORE THAN 30 CALENDAR DAYS

2.1 Leave of absence without pay for a period of time exceeding 30 calendar days must be approved by the Director of TTI or designee. Employees must have exhausted all other leave before a leave of absence without pay may be approved.

2.2 Applications for leaves of absence for a period of time greater than 30 calendar days should be submitted by memorandum from the Division Head to the Director of TTI or designee through the TTI Human Resources Office. The memorandum should specify the beginning and ending dates for the requested leave, the reason for the leave, and the impact the leave will have on the division. The Division Head should also indicate his/her support for the request.

3. This rule will not apply to leaves of absence without pay requested under the following programs. For information on these programs, refer to that program's specific SPRM policy:

3.1 Family and Medical Leave Act; System Regulation 31.03.05

3.2 Employee Insurance and Retirement Benefits Regulation 31.02

3.3 Workers Compensation Insurance Program; System Regulation 24.01.05

3.4 State Parental Leave; System Regulation 31.03.05

3.5 Sick Leave Without Pay; System Regulation 31.03.02.
