Navigating Gameday Traffic for the 2025 Texas A&M Football Season

Texas A&M University's Kyle Field

Texas A&M University’s 2025 football season kicks off Saturday, Aug. 30, at 6 p.m. against the University of Texas at San Antonio. With more than 100,000 fans expected, gameday brings crowded lots, heavier traffic and temporary road closures across campus. To help fans plan ahead and arrive at Kyle Field safely, TTI Research Engineer and Community Coordination Program Manager Debbie Albert shares tips for a smoother trip.

Parking Options

Getting to Kyle Field begins with understanding your parking options. This season, 12th Man season ticket holders will use digital parking passes. Like game tickets, these passes should be downloaded to a phone wallet and ready to show attendants, helping traffic move smoothly at the lots.

Fans without a season permit can purchase single-game parking through ParkMobile, ideally in advance. Another convenient choice is the Downtown Bryan Park & Ride, where fans can park downtown and take the free shuttle from near the Clara B. Mounce Library to campus, avoiding congestion near the stadium. Shuttles run from three hours before kickoff until one hour after the game ends, and fees may apply for parking.

Campus parking permits remain valid on gameday, but fans should consult parking maps for Any Valid Permit parking locations and update their barcode screenshot before heading out. Accessible parking is available in D Lot (University Center Garage) and Y Lot (Lot 114), with shuttle service from Lot Y/114 on the Stotzer route. Lot 88 is no longer designated for accessible parking.

Road Closures and Safety Measures

As fans make their way to Kyle Field, the roads closest to the stadium shift into pedestrian-only zones, starting four and a half hours before kickoff (or 7:30 a.m. for morning games). A No Wheels Zone around Kyle Field and Rudder Tower goes into effect three and a half hours before the game, keeping bicycles, scooters, golf carts, gators and other wheeled devices out of the busiest walking areas.

This year, Penberthy Boulevard will feature new contraflow lanes to help clear parking lots on the west side of Reed Arena. Contraflow lanes on Wellborn Road, from George Bush Drive to FM 2818, and on Discovery Drive will also guide postgame traffic off campus more efficiently.

Postgame, roads leading onto campus from George Bush Drive are closed to inbound traffic to help manage recirculating traffic and direct vehicles leaving campus. Fans picking someone up should use the designated rideshare zones, while tailgate items can be collected once the roads reopen and traffic has eased. Since last season, barriers have been installed along the bike lanes from Texas Avenue to Houston Street, so all drop-offs and pickups should stay within the designated areas.

Heading Home

Leaving Kyle Field is a shared effort, with thousands of vehicles heading out at the same time. Reviewing the posted exit routes for your parking area ahead of time can help the process move more smoothly, but patience is still key since delays are part of the postgame experience.
