Dr. Ahmed Aredah is a multi-disciplined engineer and researcher with expertise in transportation systems, artificial intelligence, and computer science. Holding a PhD in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Computer Science from Virginia Tech (2025) alongside his MSc and BSc in Civil Engineering from The German University in Cairo (2018 and 2016), he specializes in freight logistics and sustainable infrastructure. His development of open-source simulators like NeTrainSim, ShipNetSim, and CargoNetSim has achieved a 20% reduction in energy consumption and a 30% increase in operational efficiency across U.S. freight networks. At Moffatt and Nichol, Ahmed optimized port operations by boosting efficiency by 375% at Norfolk International Terminal. He has published more than 5 peer-reviewed journal articles, presented at major conferences, and secured over $1.5 million in research funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and ARPA-E. A recipient of the Last Mile Leadership Scholarship. Ahmed is committed to advancing decarbonization and infrastructure innovation to support national sustainability goals.
