Lee Gustavus is a Research Specialist II at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. Mr. Gustavus has 41 years of experience in pavement and construction materials testing, with over 27 of those years at TTI conducting pavement site investigations, laboratory testing, and nondestructive testing. Lee is well versed in conducting air- and ground-coupled ground penetrating radar surveys, falling weight deflectometer testing, and performing testing with TTI’s nondestructive Total Pavement Acceptance Device integrated system. Lee also served as TTI’s lab supervisor for 12 years, where he oversaw the maintenance of TTI’s AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory accreditation. He also maintains a commercial driver’s license and has operated heavy equipment, including full depth reclamation (FDR) equipment for purposes of constructing test sections and performing technology transfer. Prior to joining TTI, Lee was employed for 14 years at Buchanan Soil Mechanics where he performed construction inspection and project level testing.
